Over the past years since I last posted, I've visited my blog site numerous times but never thought I would actually post anything new. Here's the day when I came out of my shell and felt that I should brush my writing skills once again.
For the memorial weekend, year 2019, my husband and I went on a trip to Virginia Beach. Friends and colleagues did mention the beauty of the beach before we could even go there, which added up to our everlasting excitement of a beach. And trust me, it ended up being even more fascinating.
Born in a city of beaches, just watching the waves while hearing the soothing splash of water and enjoying every moment beside my loved ones, is a priceless experience I would forever relish. With this simple idea of a trip, we drove all the seven-and-a-half-hour long drive from home to our temporary stay on Friday, the 24th of May. Saturday morning we set out to visit the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, which is the first ever lighthouse built in the United States in 1792. We climbed all the way to the top, clicked a few pictures and then descended. Our next destination was a boat trip from the backwaters to the Atlantic Ocean with an aim to dolphin-watch, all on our way fingers-crossed. The boat ride was sure surreal, with the waves splashing against the boat while it made its way through, sea gulls casually and openly flying around, owning the sky and the sea proudly, and finally to the point where if lucky enough we could spot some dolphins. And yes! we did spot around four of them, only disappointment being the not-so-high jumps of the dolphins that could be captured. Though, I would say, we did have a bit of luck. After the boat ride we then set forward to a little fun time in the beach and a stroll on the sand. Trust me, however simple it may sound, a good walk with your loved one beside and in a location so serene is not easily describable. Our day ended with an Indian dinner.
On our next day, we drove a couple of hours to the OuterBanks, an island group in North Carolina. From the drive to the fun in the beach, everything about this place is just enjoyable. We then drove our way to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel, which as the name suggests, is a bridge and tunnel on a bay. After a long fun in the beach, we enjoyed the calmness of a sunset over the bay, though we were not allowed to stop anywhere. On the next day, we drove all the way back home carrying enough memories besides all the beach sand!!
